What is a Family Tree?

If you can imagine a tree with bare branches silhouetted by the sun. Now, although that’s a nice picture in your mind try adding to the end of each of the branches your brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and so on. The tree soon becomes a monster of a tree… A Family Tree!

Your family tree will show you your family connections between individuals, usually based on names and often accompanied by dates of importance (birth, death, marriage), places (birth place, where they moved too and lived) and occupations (from wizards and witches to paupers and peasants).
